The first step in the evaluation of your venous disorder will be a thorough history and physical. Afterwards, a venous ultrasound is usually performed to define the area of "incompetence" in your venous system. This ultrasound evaluation will also be used to exclude clots in the large veins in your thigh and calf. After your initial evaluation has been performed and your ultrasound reviewed, a treatment plan can be chosen.
Our clinic is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Except in an emergency, we prefer to see patients by appointment. This allows us to schedule you an appropriate amount of time with one of our physicians. If you cannot keep your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible.
Our physicians are on call 24 hours a day. If you have an emergency during the working day, our staff will advise you whether to meet your physician at our clinic or at the hospital emergency room. After hours, you can call our office answering service, which will contact the physican on call, or you can go to the hospital emergency room and the hospital will contact our physician on call.
